Access 2010 FAQ

I cannot find the Attachment or Calculated data type in table design mode. Can you tell me why?

Access 2007 introduced a new feature that allows you to create an Attachment Data Type, but this data type is only available in the ACCDB file format. Similarly, Access introduces another new data type called Calculated fields.

If you are working with a database saved in the MDB file format, you will not see the Attachment or Calculated options in the list of data types. If you wish to use the Attachment or Calculated data types, you'll need to convert your database into the ACCDB file format.
